Ernest Hemingway once wrote a story in six words: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." Ms. Sifer's freshman English classes were asked to tell her a story in six words.
They had creative things to say.
Ms. Sifer first read Hemingway's six word story while browsing through internet articles. Intruiged, she researched microfiction, a genre of literature that defies length and expectations. So much can be said by saying very little. While researching, she came across SMITH magazine. SMITH refers to itself as "a home for storytelling." SMITH magazine is the home of Six-Word Memoirs, an ongoing project that encourages all writers to explore their creative side through microfiction. Check out their magazine here: www.SMITHmag.net
